Bad Breath? Causes, Prevention and Treatments

Bad breath in people close to you weather in working place or your family members can really make it very embarrassing to your relationship with others. It’s known as the fastest put off in any relationship. Medically it is called Halitosis. The good news is its completely preventable by small habits and can be treated as well. 

What causes Bad Breath? 

Most commonly the bad breadth is a temporary foul smell from your mouth caused due to what you ate in your last meals. Garlic, Onion and many curry food products have an odour which stays in your mouth for longer period. Many times poor oral hygiene is a cause of bad breadth , stomach disorders and bacteria’s due to food can stay in your mouth and cause foul smell. 

Treatment and Preventive Measures 

As we know prevention is better than cure, it’s always better to follow a good oral hygiene to avoid bad breath. Some of the other preventive measures which can be followed in routine are as follows 

1. Halitosis can best be prevented by regular brushing of teeth and flossing to remove any remnants of food hidden in various cavities. 

2. Have tooth cavities filled in time to prevent above mentioned issues. 

3. Check out on your gums if the bad breadth doesn’t go even after brushing. You need to consult your dentist. 

4. Dry mouth due to cold or other reasons prevent cleaning of mouth which is naturally done by saliva. Get treated for the ailment causing dry mouth. 

Some of the chronic causes of foul smell can be due to infections and disorders like stomach disorder, dehydration, allergies, respiratory tract infections, sinus, tonsillitis or even diabetes, cancer and other serious health problems. Balanced diet having a healthy combination of carbohydrates from raw vegetables and protein with good oral discipline will ensure that you keep emanating a fresh odour from your mouth.
